What is Reiki?

Hello healers! I am back!

There has been a few changes in my life and I am just trying to keep up with it all. I hope the new year has been treating you well so far. If you feel overwhelmed like me lately, remember to BREATHE and TRUST yourself and the Universe. I've been learning a lot of lessons of patience and faith. Don't give up. I promise things will turn for the better.

I wanted to quickly explain what Reiki is and what a session may be like. Everyone's experience will be different so don't harp on what you may or may not feel in a session. Since I have started my spiritual journey two years ago, I was introduced to Reiki by a meditation teacher. She has a profound impact in the starting stages of my spiritual journey. I used to go to meetup meditation circles back in Boston. I was clueless but felt led there. In the circles I have experienced epiphanies and started to read people because the messages just started flooding in. My teacher noticed me stepping into my abilities and she asked if I ever wanted to learn Reiki. Energy healing seemed to be the next step in my path. She offered to teach me and give me Reiki attunements so I can heal myself and help others heal.

How did I get trained?

There are three levels of certifications in learning Reiki. I am trained in the Usui Shiki Rhyo Reiki Healing System as a Reiki Master. I just received my third and last Reiki certification a few months ago! Usui Shiki Ryoho is a Japanese healing art. This form was founded in Japan and the basis of the practice is referred to as self healing/self treatment. A little over 100 years ago a Japanese man, Mikao Usui, began a personal search that ended with him having contact with the energy of Reiki. His practice grew and eventually Reiki was introduced out of Japan via Hawaii in 1937 by Hawayo Takata Sensei. It is passed on from one person to another through a specific initiation, teachings and defined form of practice.

Reiki is translated as 'universal life energy' and the Usui System is a way of working with Reiki for healing of self and others. The word healing is used in the sense of regaining harmony and wholeness. Usui Shiki Ryoho addresses the whole person on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels and those that we can't identify at the present. In the initiation I received Reiki symbols that act as energetic keys that access the non physical world. This has prepared me for a greater choice in life and a wider understanding of the world in general. I'm still figuring it out! LOL So in other words I am a channel for light energy.

What does a session entail?

I will have a relaxing atmosphere set up to induce relaxation with essential oil blend in a diffuser and meditation music. The sessions are usually 60-90 minutes. My guides take over so it is hard at this time to say how long the session will be. Please be prepared to be there at least 60-90 minutes. I will ensure you are comfortable and ask if you prefer hands on or hands off approach. The treatment consists of hand positions held for a few minutes in a specific order. This is the formal treatment practice. The informal treatment is any hand position that is practiced with the consent of the person being treated for as long as necessary. I ask my guides in a session to guide my hands to where you may have some energy blockages. We then proceed to a 5 minute meditation to help melt away any anxiety and promote calmness. I am trained to do in person Reiki session and distance ones. Energy can't be created or destroyed and it is POWERFUL! Think of Reiki as an energy massage. During Reiki sessions I may get messages from my guides to share with you. You may experience sensations in your body which indicate energy is moving. You may feel tingling, warmth, coldness and etc. This is normal if you do or DO NOT. Some people don't feel anything physically but the energy is still working!

What happens after a session?

I will talk to you about any messages or sensations I felt. What it all means for you and how you can apply the advice in your daily life. I will ask you for feedback about your session and if there is anything you want to share. I will recommend more sessions if you need it and why. You may feel lighter, sleep better and be filled with energy. Your dreams may become more vivid and your intuition enhanced. Reiki is a tune up and a clearing practice. It is like a spiritual spa treatment and I am so honored to offer it to others. In the future I will be offering Reiki classes so you could become a Reiki master someday!
